The Cranbrook Subdivision runs from Sparwood to Kingsgate on the BC\US border. There is a small CTC island at Sparwood where the Fording River Sub joins up with the Cranbrook. There is also a controlled location at Fort Steele where the Cranbrook Sub meets the Windermere Sub.
In 2025 CPKC cut the Cranbrook Sub back and extended the Crowsnest Sub to Sparwood. This was done as Crowsnest has not been consistently used as a crew change location for many years.
