Below is a list of useful railfan links, with a brief description of each.
Blogs/Personal Sites:
Steve’s Train Geek website is home to a wealth of helpful items including timetables, photos, and other resources.
Eric has been writing on this blog for many years. It is full of great write-ups and history.
Maps:
The railfan Atlas is a collection of many photographers images placed onto a map. This can be extremely helpful for when planning a trip. I include the majority of my photos uploaded to Flickr on the map.
The real time map displays the location of Amtrak & VIA Rail trains. Useful for days trackside waiting for passenger trains. Or, if you are waiting for your ride to show up.
The Rail Atlas of Canada provides a map of the railways in Canada.
Very similar to the RAC listed above, the FRA Rail Map provides a map of railways, but for the United States.
Model Railroading:
This page provides a number of model railroad links for those that are looking to start in the hobby, or those who are looking to better their layout.
